Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Megan has been a practicing Registered Psychiatric Nurse since 2007. The majority of her career has been in Calgary Alberta. Megan has been settling into Manitoba since winter 2016, most recently opening her own private practice. Megan comes with experience in multiple settings with diverse populations. Despite a wide variety of exposure to models and treatment interventions, Megan’s passion is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
“The thing I love about DBT is the choices it gives you. The core skill in DBT is mindfulness. When you practice mindfulness it’s easy to feel the benefits, it helps me do my role better in mental health and every role in my personal life. Mindfulness gives us the steps and guidance to further understand our selves. In addition to learning a new way to relate to our internal experiences and life; DBT is saturated with skills that help individuals create a life worth living ~ what’s more motivating and satisfying than that?”
In addition to DBT Megan has experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Megan strives to offer individualized treatment strategies that fit the individual’s need. Goals in therapy are deeply personal and Megan is committed to practice acceptance and understanding while fostering motivation to make the changes in your life that you desire.
Your first appointment is an important one, often this is a mental health assessment to gain further understanding of reasons for pursuing therapy and presenting symptoms. From there, we can discuss treatment approaches and establish a mutually agreed upon treatment plan.
